We are trying to become busy for the group project. Our dream is vast but we are not confused. Reading on motion capture, enjoying. Constantly doing daydreaming, especially about virtual reality and 4D. I love to know about latest technology. Trying to learn the basic principals of animation as well.
21st Feb was "The International Mother language Day". As a Bangla Language speaker I am very much proud. I did a presentation in the programme "EQUAL- Celebration of Language Movement Day", arranged by the organization "AWEMA"(All Wales Ethnic Minority Association) on 21st Feb. I was very happy to see so many children over there. I sang a bangla song for them though I am not a singer.
History of the International mother language day
When Pakistan was born in 1947, there were two provinces in Pakistan, East Pakistan (Bangladesh) and West Pakistan.
The central leaders and the Urdu-speaking intellectuals of Pakistan declared that Urdu would be the state language of Pakistan, just as Hindi was the state language of India.
In that time out of the 6 crore 90 lakh population of Pakistan, 4 crore 40 lakh were from East Pakistan with Bangla as their mother tongue.
The students and intellectuals of East Pakistan, demanded that Bangla be made one of the state languages along with Urdu.
The Constituent Assembly proposed that the members would have to speak either in Urdu or in English at the Assembly.
Dhirendranath Datta, a member from the East Pakistan Congress Party, moved an amendment motion to include Bangla as one of the languages of the Constituent Assembly.
The central leaders, including prime minister of Pakistan and chief minister of East Bengal, opposed the motion.
On receiving the news that the motion had been rejected, students, intellectuals and politicians of East Pakistan became upset.
The first Language Movement began in 1948 and reached its climax in the killing of lot of Bangali on 21 February 1952, and ended in the adoption of Bangla as one of the state languages of Pakistan 1956.
United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized and declared the Twenty first February as the International Mother Language Day on 19 November 1999.
It is an honour given by the international community on the Language Movement of Bangladesh.
